Wrath Warcasters

With the new Wrath expansion just upon the horizon, Privateer Press has been steadly releasing pictures, rumours and in some cases actually giving us the models to buy. Theres the two new Battle Engines: The Khador Gun Carriage, and the Arcantrik Force Generator. Which are the first Battle Engines to have rules released for them, and should be hitting the store shelves fairly soon. There have been photos of the Cygnar Storm Strider and the Cryx Wraith Engines. Strange though, is the fact theres only been concept art for the Protectorate Vessel of Judgment Battle Engine and no physical product yet. This tells me that something has slowed its release, which could be anything from external to internal causes. This is all speculation of course so take it for what it is. I will most likely write an article on the Battle Engines in the near future so stay tooned for that.

The past two weeks have lead to some more spoilers and sneak peaks at the new Wrath Warcasters and finally after today, we have all the models in the fleash. You can find all these models at KEEP IN MIND THESE ARE MY THOUGHTS ABOUT MODELS WITH NO ACTUAL RULES YET. RULES THAT WILL BE RELEASED IN THE NEW WRATH EXPANSION BOOK.

Enjoy ;p

A CONSTANT had to know that was coming.....I could not help myself..... :(

Constance Blaize is a resolute champion of Morrow who leads her Precursor Knights into battle against the unholy terrors that threaten all of mankind. Her greatest foes are the sprawling nightmare empire of Cryx and the vile servants of the dark god Thamar. Empowered by her faith, Blaize fights for her god and her nation with fervor inspired by the holy ascendants she reveres.

For starters the sheer amount of detail on this model is outstanding, I can see this model being an amazing center piece for any Cygnar host. Unfortunately because this model will have the "shinny" model syndrome it might die alot......"oh and it also happens to be your warcaster as well....hummmmm ;) ". But in all seriousness, this model will most likely provide what Cygnar players have been wanting for along time, their very own melee focused Warcaster. Not saying that there isn't already close range Cygnar warcasters...cough....Styker...cough, but Constance seems to offer another angle for Cygnar players to build around, the Precursor Knights. I can see an Elite Cadre ability, probably Aegis or perhaps some new ability? I also think its logical to speculate that she will have abilities that reflect her role as a Knight of the Prophet. Abilities like Sacrosanct, Inviolable Resolve, or even Revive might reflect her role as a Knight of Morrow. This would also help explain her obvious usefulness against Cryx and maybe we shall see the rise of some new spells to showcase that. Guesses on what her feat actually is? Ummm not too sure, but comparing it to other "Knightly" Characters it most certainly will be Troops related, probably an additional damage dice and attack. Hard to say at this time.

THEY SHOULD HAVE CALLED IT IREN BEAR.....but seriously check him out at

Khador’s Iron Wolf has earned a reputation as a peerless master of heavy armor on the battlefield, a war hero beloved by his men and respected even by the enemies of the Motherland. He is famous for his ability to move large numbers of warjacks at an unprecedented pace to arrive where the enemy least expects him. Where Harkevich and his iron army stride, the enemy finds itself hounded, outmaneuvered, cornered, and eventually obliterated by overwhelming firepower.
I don't even play Khador and I love this guy! The name, the story and his role seem to hit the right cord to me. He's easily the new "warjack" warcaster for Khador. Odds are he will most likely get abilities like Mobility, Synergy, Perdition or even Energize, to represent the speed of his heavy warjack force. He might also be good with heavy infantry like the Man-O-Wars, but it is unknown at this time. I can see his feat working similar to other "Warjack" Warcasters, where they create extra focus to run their warjacks or even providing extra damage, speed and attacks. He's a warcaster that has me very interested in the coming months.

The fundamental laws of reality twist and shatter beneath the will of Ossyan, Lord Arcanist of House Vyre. Time bends with but a gesture from him, and he can alter his perception to see the convergence of fate. Armed with perfect foresight he is a deadly combatant and battlefield general. Ossyan’s myrmidons and soldiers move with the assurance of destiny as he unleashes House Vyre’s sophisticated armaments upon the enemies of the Retribution.

Its pretty obvious that out of all the Wrath warcasters to be released this one will probably be the most significant, not necessarily in the game play department, but in the list making process. Until now there have only been five warcaster for the Retribution of Scyrah and while each of them have been powerful additions to the army. Ret players have been significantly limited in their options when picking warcasters. Tobias would be the first person to tell you that every Ret warcaster can be a formidable foe, and I agree with him, having been beaten by all of them on a regular basis..(Jacob....). This warcaster seems like a fantastic addition to the Ret, most likely allowing players to have a fairly balanced warcaster that will offer something for his troops and myrmidons; spells like Force Barrier and Polarity Shield will most likely make the cut as well. He seems to have some relation to arcanists, so who knows maybe he has a spell that regenerates the energy shields of friendly myrmidons within his Control area? Another exciting release!!

A fanatic assassin able to move between the bounds of life and death, Thyra, Flame of Sorrow is the peerless commander of the Daughters of the Flame. Her twin swords, Grief and Lament, weave a path of razor-edged destruction through the enemy ranks as she leads her sisters into battle. Thyra has become a living weapon of the Menite cause, her body and soul devoted to avenging the injustices carried out by those who oppose the Creator.

Thyra, not to be confused with The-Ra, seems to be an interesting addition to the Protectorate. Until now I don't really think Menoth has had a dedicated casterkill warcaster. Sure all the Kreoss, Sevys, Reznik, Harby, High Reclaimer/Testament, Feoras and Amon can kill warcasters when charged up on focus or when spell slinging (Hum what no Vindictus....even I have to agree that if he's close to do it, he shouldn't be there). All joking aside, Thyra seems to offer another interesting way to deal out death to the enemies of the faith. I can see her having side-step allowing her to rapidly jump through infantry, combined with acrobatics and grievous wounds/Arcane Assassin, she could dish out a killing blow to the toughest casters. Otherwise Privateer could do anything with this character and frankly I don't know what they have in store, but it sure will be something interesting.

THE HUNCHBACK OF NOTRE CRYX,,,special thanks to

A specialist in the acquisition of lore from the dead, Lord Exhumator Scaverous is one of the most potent and intelligent servants of the Nightmare Empire. Souls are both ammunition and fuel for Scaverous. Those he slays and casts aside are fortunate compared to any possessed of special lore, whose skulls and souls he preserves for horrific necromantic interrogation.
Another Medium based Cryx warcaster....yay? If anyone is familiar with the discussions on the other Cryx medium based warcasters, then you will know that it can be fairly difficult to protect these guys from ranged casterkills. I'm not saying these warcasters are bad, look at the past vassal league and/or Guns vs Hammer series on the Site, in the right player's hands these warcasters can still be fairly useful. I'm also very curious to see how the new Cryx Battle Engine will play out with these warcasters, basically allowing them to hide behind them until the final turns of the match. Getting back to Scaverous, its pretty obvious that he is more heavly soul token related compared to other Cryx casters. I can see him perfoming a similar role like the Testament of Menoth, but rather then being a Cryx carbon copy he will most likely channel these souls into extra buffs or spell slinging. Is it possible that he can be a super WitherShadow Combine? Or perhaps like the CankerWorm, but have it be soul related? We shall find out very soon.

I'm fairly impressed by all the new model releases by PP at this point and these new warcasters are no exception. They have amazing detail, and even afterwords if we find out they aren't that good on the table. I'd still buy the models, well done Privateer Press! Since there hasn't been any official rules for these models yet, its really hard to say how effective or competitive these models will be in tournament play. But with that aside I can appreciate the unique qualities of each character and what they offer for Wrath and the Future of Warmachine. If you have any ideas for future articles or want to talk about this one you can reach me on Twitter @ATT64.

Till Next Time
